Oryx, great idea for the competition! Really nice way to promote your work.

It looks very NES-appropriate. Can you explain the columns in the gameplay screenshot?

This is really fun.  Very smooth gameplay.   Its a little bit hard.  Is there any way to get a hero back after he dies?

I like the gradient lighting effect, too.

I plan to work on this a little bit more and add a revive item/spell and smooth out the difficulty curve, add more classes ad monsters, some real objectives and progression, etc.
